Local Hero

Like many professional brewers, Big Al got his start brewing beer in his garage and sharing it with friends and family. It is estimated that more than 1 million Americans enjoy the art of homebrewing. The art of creating beer at home IS the heart of the craft beer industry and we would like to pay tribute to the craftsman who make beer what it is today, the craftsman who inspire the beers we all enjoy regularly. This is why we are collaborating with a lucky homebrewer 4 times a year to deliver to you Local Hero. A beer that is formulated by a homebrewer, then scaled up and brewed on our system here at Big Al Brewing. This beer will be distributed to local pubs and beer bars for you to enjoy. You?re welcome!

Local Hero 2 - ESB by Ken Frauenthal

Our second in the Local Hero series is based on Ken Frauenthal's gold medal version of ESB. Quality Marris Otter malt, floral British Fuggle hops, and Ken's passion for the style combine to create a smooth, balanced session beer.

Malt = Marris Otter, Crystal, and Flaked Wheat
Hops = Fuggle
Yeast = Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale
OG = 1.055/13.6P
ABV = 4.9%
IBU = 27
SRM = 14
